Daufuskie Island can only be accessed
by ferry. Please see ("
Ferry Transportation" for
detailed information and the ferry schedule.) Getting
to the embarketion center on Hilton Head Island is fairly
simple.
From I-95
Take Exit 8 from I-95 and head East on
Highway 278. Stay on Highway 278 for about 20 miles or
30 plus minutes depending upon traffic and cross over the
only bridge to Hilton Head Island. (Please note the
Saturday traffic in the summer can substantially lengthen
the travel time.) Once you are over the bridge and on
the island you will travel approximately 1.5 miles when you
will come to the first traffic light on the island.
Turn Left on Squire Pope Road. The Daufuskie Island
Embarkation Center is approximately 2 miles on the left.
Upon arrival, drive up to the pier area to unload your
baggage and for tagging your baggage with the address of
your final property destination. (See "Ferry
Transportation") From the
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport
Depart the Savannah, Georgia airport when in a few minutes
you will enter I-95 going NORTH. Follow I-95 North
crossing into South Carolina. Continue until you reach
Exit 8. Turn right (East) at the end of Exit 8 onto
Highway 278 then follow the directions above from I-95 |
